Formed in 1986, Leicester Council of Faiths has become widely recognised as a key player in establishing, maintaining and promoting Leicester’s reputation as a place where people of different religions and beliefs co exist peacefully.

Our current membership includes representatives of the city’s Bahá i Buddhist, Chri stian, Hindu, Jain, Jewish, Muslim, Pagan and Sikh communities. We work alongside other groups and organisations that encourage tolerance, mutual respect, community cohesion and a world embracing vision.

ROLE: Manager

Job Description
  • To maintain and develop work with partners and stakeholders
  • To identify the needs, barriers and issues of faith communities and to develop proposals to help meet those needs
  • To manage existing relationships and work programme with stakeholders and partners such as councils and NHS
  • To develop a work programme of events and meetings that benefit the aims of the LCOF
  • To develop links and working partnerships with youth organisations and committees
  • To recruit and manage volunteers and staff of the LCOF to support the work of the LCOF
  • To deliver timely communication with members, partners and stakeholders and keep the website and social media pages up to date
  • To support the board and officers in organising and holding meetings and events held
  • To raise awareness of the work of LCOF and develop the membership and promote the benefits of the work of the LCOF
  • To undertake tasks and initiatives as guide d by the LCOF
Person Specification

Essential Requirements:
1. Creative thinking and self-motivated
2. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
3. Experience of developing proposals and managing projects
4. Experience of managing people (volunteers and paid staff)
5. Good knowledge of Social Media & IT
6. Excellent communication skills and good cultural awareness
7. Good report writing skills
8. Experience of managing good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
9. Experience of work with key dignitaries and senior managers of public, private and third sector organisations
10. Familiarity with major different faiths of Leicester and Leicestershire
11. Commitment to equality and community cohesion and safeguarding principles
12. To maintain confidentiality and adherence to Data Protection laws

Desirable Requirements:

1. Experience of undertaking a similar role is desirable
2. Experience of writing funding bids and promoting projects to potential funders or sponsors
3. Experience of bringing people together and knowledge of the work and aims of the LCOF
4. Excellent interpersonal skills
5. Knowledge & awareness of places of worship and their activities


Duration: 12 Month fixed term contract subject to 3 months probation
Hours: 15 hours per week for 12 months. Additional hours are subject to funding.
Location: Mainly working from home and on occasion at different locations
Salary: From £12 to £17 per hour depending on experience (equivalent to £23,400 to £33,150 pro rata)
